Select Only: grab bones without the artwork

Viewport Options can now limit selection to one kind of object, so you can grab a bone without picking up the artwork sitting on top of it.

Grabbing a bone on the stage has always been fiddly. The artwork sits on top of the rig, so a click often selects the shape instead of the bone you were aiming for.

What Changed?

Viewport Options now has one row for each kind of object on the stage: Bones, Targets, Stage Controls, Layouts, Shapes & Images. Every row has an eyeball and a Select Only toggle.

Select Only limits what a click on the stage can select. Turn it on for Bones and you can only grab bones, even when they sit inside a group under the artwork. The new Shapes & Images eyeball hides the artwork completely, so you see the rig on its own.

What This Means for You

The rigging lessons work exactly as recorded. This is a new shortcut, not a change. If you catch yourself clicking three times to hit a bone, turn Select Only on for Bones and the problem goes away.
